`The Church of St. Philip and St. James, Hallow

The church was consecrated in 1869 after two other churches on another site were demolished. One, a Saxon church was taken down in 1830, the other lasted only 30 years on the same site.

The church was re-ordered c. 1991 by the addition of a kitchen and toilet, and meeting room. Pews were also removed from the back of the church and the font moved to a central position, also at the back of the church.

The church today has a choir, team of servers, Sunday school, crèche, a local ministry team and an evening fellowship group. It shares with the other churches in our benefice a prayer group and study meeting.

The church has close connections with the school and the vicar and four other members are appointed by the church to serve as Governors. The church also hosts various school events throughout the year.

In May, to celebrate the Church's Patronal festival, the children are treated to a tea party followed by May dancing on the village green.
